What was a time you let fear alter a major decision?

I wanted to buy an apartment at auction. The opening bid was more than what I thought was reasonable at the then prevailing 17% interest rate. So I pulled out. Interest rates came down, apartment prices rose massively. Ended up renting for many more years.
