Are we already consuming AI generated content without knowing?

It occured to me that while I could spot in specific instances content generated from AIs, from advertisement, to media used in talks and on social networks, I might be consuming the same kind of content without realising it.

Are we already on the point that they pass as human generated content or are they still very discernible?

It has long been the case that a significant amount of formulaic content is generated by inexpert writers with little familiarity with the topic just to meet a quota of words/articles to shovel onto the internet to try to get the ad money. With that as a comparison point, I think that current AIs can definitely compete.

I do wonder this myself, which is the crux of the Turin Test, but there is a lot of data sharing between companies, facilitated by the advertising tracking networks and a lot of companies manipulating social media platforms like Reddit, but also seen in sites like this one.

The news organisations, ie journalists do collaborate despite working for different companies. Ultimate phishers in some respects, and the public face of the spooks.
