What have y'all done with your old MBP?

I have an old MBP from 2010. I considered selling but I don't think anybody will buy this old box. And the amount I'd get is barely worth the trouble.

So I was wondering if I should do something fun/useful with it and wanted to check if anybody had ideas.

I can be a good toy but it can also still be appreciated by some people. Some charity or hospitals will gladly take it. Or recycling.

Also if anyone has tips on how to get the contents of the hrad drive out if you can't remember the password?

couch youtube chromecast machine (but 2010 is really old)

I have 2. One is broken, nobody was able to fix it, the other has broken WiFi and was my primary machine used with an Linux and an Ethernet adapter for a few years.

I'd also like to know what to do with it. I don't really want to crouch over by the nighthawk repeater for hours just to mess with NixOS on it, if that even works.

Keep it around - it wil be fun to have a look at in a decade or two and may even be worth something by then.

(But do recycle the battery as it may pose a fire risk. My 2007 MBP's battery started swelling quite dramatically after about ten years.)

What's an MBP? From the comments, I gather it's a computer of some sort, but I've never seen this acronym before.
