While individual platforms offer features such as message saving in Slack, tasks in HubSpot, and notifications in GitHub, the lack of integration between these systems is a pain point for me. Especially with messaging apps like WhatsApp and Signal, messages tend to slip through the cracks after being read.
I'm curious if anyone has explored the possibility of establishing a standardized method for flagging items across services to indicate, "I need to keep track of this."
For instance, envision being able to label a message within Signal as "saved for later." This label would then trigger the addition of the message to a central "task tracking tool" (as well as a marker in Signal itself). This centralized hub would enable a comprehensive view of tasks across all tools, providing the ability to set reminders and configure notifications in one unified location including links back to the original source.
It would be great if this solution could function bidirectionally. Meaning, marking an item as "done" within the central tool would reciprocate by marking it as "done" in the source application, and vice versa.
While some manual workarounds achieve partial results, I've yet to come across any established or attempted standard for tackling this challenge. Maybe someone here has?
