What's the name of the mathematician that worked at Bell Labs

I am trying to find the name of a mathematician or an article about him.

He was followed by a team of journalists for months to study his work. I recall that he worked at Bell Labs and had his own office within a university or research lab, which was located in the US. He always had to work on multiple things at once to keep himself productive and stimulated. However, I am not referring to John von Neumann or John Nash.
