Photo Sharing Solutions

My family wants to set up online photo sharing, and has defaulted to google. I'm not familiar with what they offer but they would be my last choice to trust for something like this. Are there self-hosted solutions people have used that would let us upload and share photos? Or hosted solutions that you can vouch for? Personally I'd be most comfortable with something paid that has strong privacy and good support.

I self host nextcloud and Pixelfed (instagram clone).

They both work, although Pixelfed has some rough edges.

That said, there are lots of options[0]. I recall running several different photo sharing sites with varying results over the years.

I am not sure what you think they may do with your photos, but in my experience they provide an excellent service. If your family is happy with the solution you may find you are swimming against the tide unnecessarily.

I know it is fashionable to be anti Google, and I apologise to anyone who may find my remarks offensive.

If you're [more-or-less exclusively] in the Apple ecosystem, iCloud works great
