How do you manage your personal project?

I would like to know how you guys manage your personal project? Do you use any specific system or app? And if you do, how your system or app handle the ever growing complexity that will eventually arise as time progress?

A todo list in a markdown file. If it really gets too much I tend to create a new empty file and continue there. Not the most organized approach but I also don't build space rockets so it's fine.I tried other methods but they all add too much friction and overhead.
