Does posting to social media make you start doubting your grammar?

And do you then look up grammar issues on the web that you would not otherwise due to this increased self-doubt while posting to social media?

I brainfarted a grammatical error into a tweet a couple of days ago and didn't notice until after it had got a few retweets and likes, so since then I've been extra paranoid about anything I write... but generally no I don't think social media use affects how I think about it.

No.

Maybe it matters more on HN where the audience values things like grammar, logic, and empirical evidence. But we live in a bubble.

On social media as a whole? Nope. Vulgar, grammatically-incorrect, emotional tirades seem to be the hot ticket that will get you uptoots.

I never doubt my grammar because I paid attention in English class. Also, I don't post to social media.

I'm very careful with my grammar when posting to HN - does that count?

👤 mdwalters
Nah. If I accidentally let a error slip, then I would simply edit the post
