Has anyone noticed Hacker News changed its logo to SVG format?

The link to the Hackernews logo is here:https://news.ycombinator.com/y18.svgIt used to be a GIF file. I really like when you zoom in it doesn't get all distorted since it's vector format.Anyone else notice this new change?

Didn't notice and don't really care, to be honest. It's not something that's on my list of what's important about this site. But kudos to YC for doing that.

For such a simple logo that can be easily made in plain CSS, is there any practical advantage to actually making it an SVG or image file rather than a few lines of CSS?
