Why so many Substack posts?

Recently noticed how a lot of substack blogs have reached the top on hacker news, I was just curious if I missed something in the middle, are Medium, WP or the selfhosting alternatives having any issue?, substack is receiving a big push from somewhere? Ghost is making its magic? xD Or probably any specific release or promo

Substack became popular, so it became the defacto platform for people who want attention and reader's eyeballs on their content. Same thing happened with Medium in late 2010s, Medium was the defacto platform for writing for a while, you'd have Medium posts rising to the top, companies hosted their blogs on Medium.

Hackernews ranking isn't exactly a fair ranking system. It promotes certain domains, certain types of posts (YC launches), and companies that have investments from certain investors.
