What's the Best Way to Find Information About a Travel Destination?

Hi, I'm currently planning some holidays and I've once again run into the usual problem of SEO spam when trying to find useful information about my destination.Everytime I search for " travel tips" the top results are awful auto-generated blogs that provide the same style articles about virtually any city in the world and are full of affiliated links. The situation on YouTube is not much better, with most of the channels submitting clickbaity and misleading top10s or very uninformative and often wrong travel vlogs.Do you have any go-to for when you need to learn something about your destination? Any way to search for "human" content?

Try searching for specific things, not "travel tips." If you like shopping, hiking, go-karts, beaches, food, whatever, use specific search terms. And use specific destinations. Try "night markets taipei" rather than "food tips taiwan."Personally, living as a full-time nomad, I like to just go to new places without doing any research beyond visa requirements. Sometimes I have friends where I go, sometimes not. I enjoy figuring things out. Want to know a good local place to eat? Find the places with lines outside at lunchtime. Want to find a park or shopping mall? Use a map. Most places tourists go to have tourist offices that have free maps and guidebooks and so on, usually full of ads, but still useful to get some ideas. Nothing beats a local friend, though.

Facebook groups. I have started using Facebook a lot more now that I travel more and while there is plenty of spam, there are also plenty of people just casually sharing information.
