Meta launched Threads without a desktop client. Was it a fatal mistake?

Yes I think they underestimated the level of interest and how many first impressions they were going to deliver. Regardless if they actually do generate a user base having meaningful conversations organic growth back to the launch numbers is very doable.

All the desktop only users are going to be hard to bring back, if they wanted to try and bounced off the two obstacles of Meta not owning the domain, and then on the other domain having nothing to use.

Is Threads tarketting an older generation who might prefer a desktop experience or is it targeting a younger generation who might not care about desktop?

Instagram was mobile only for years and it launched back when smartphones were just beginning to be ubiquitous.

I think threads will be just fine.

Eh. I’m still shocked that Instagram has no native iPad client, but it’s still very popular.
