Should homeless people have a QR code on their signs?

Is there some sort of social not for profit that provides homeless people with a way to receive donations via a printed QR code?

I pass homeless people and think I would like to give them some money but I don't carry cash any more.

Many homeless people don't want to be part of "society" in that if they wanted to do paperwork and deal with welfare state BS they could probably find a way not to be homeless. Just like collecting cans is a shitty job and if you could do it you could probably work somewhere that pays better, but at least it's on your own terms.

If I saw a person with a QR code I'd assume they are someone who wants to game whatever system (and so has other options besides my donation). If they wanted to deal with a financial institution, they can do all the other BS. I'd rather give money to someone who appears to have rejected that.

Do you suppose people who don’t have a home and live on the street have bank accounts and smartphones with apps to process payments?

If you asked this question sincerely and really want to give money to homeless people you see, carry cash. Easier to make that small change in yourself than try to implement a technical solution for a large and diverse population of people who have obvious financial problems.

Heroin dealers usually don't take credit or debit, so the uptake will probably be small.
