If the Rubik's Cube were invented today, would anyone care?

Without patent I'd say it would be like the fidget spinner craze in 2017 because 100 no-name companies would produce it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fidget_spinner). If the manufacturer enforces trademark and patents a little less so.
