Nowadays, popups are back. I open a site and when I scroll, I get asked to sign up for the newsletter, or create an account, or register my email address, etc...
NPR is as good an example as any: https://www.npr.org/2023/06/28/1184544944/tcm-turner-classic-movies-david-zaslav
So, is there a modern(ish) extension that can block this behavior? I am hesitant to disable JS but that may be needed at this point. I just want to read the article -- after I am done, I might want to sign up for a newsletter, but you have to prove to me you have good content first.
Any help here gang?
No need for a modern ad blocker
In ublock-origin you need to enable the filter in Filter lists:
EasyList – Cookie Notices
It is not enabled by default
I also have easy list installed in My filter just in case ublock misses any: https://easylist.to/
I use these to stop the very annoying GDPR cookie pop ups but works perfectly for the rest of the intrusions into my online life.
I surf clean, no ads no pop ups
