I want a list of the labels firms use to refer to their workers
I have a beef with these labels especially when used in layoff announcements. For example tacklers work at tackle.io, wazers at Waze, googlers at google. Tweeps work at Twitter. Can we crowd source a list please.
Most of Name/Label I know, I can't say here, or other places because the terms don't meet community standards... Peons being the least vulgar of them I think of... I am guessing though you mean the Public facing labels though, the company's want as a part of there image... That I imagine changes per company philosphy.
Some of these made up labels are a bit cringe (Metamates at Meta), but at the end of the day it's a small attempt to add a bit of fun and create a closer team, so the intent isn't bad.
The only term that really bugs me is when companies seriously use the word "resources" to refer to people. It feels so damn dehumanizing every time I hear that.
BTW, really dislike when companies call us such names. I imagine the reason is to create an atmosphere of security/family, but on me it creates the opposite reaction.
