Have you noticed that sites flip “hero” ads too fast lately?

Example for me is the Orange Pi site - I just saw a post about it on Mastodon and went to the site, and for me, the big teaser image that flips between various products gives me about 1.5 seconds before it flips to the next one, and this seems to be the overall trend now.

Is this just the general level of web design incompetence that we have to live with now?
