How did Apple manage to prevent Chinese phone makers from running iOS

Wonder how did Apple manage to lock iOS to their own hardware so well, that in 16 years it was never hacked and made to run on other ARM platforms.

Barring Corellium[0], of course.

My first instinct is that any company with the resources to make such a thing could tell it wouldn't last long. Petty copyright violations go over pretty smoothly in China all the time, but any attempts to go international would get them sued out of the market. It would also stand to sabotage Apple's investments in Chinese success, which is a no-go for any domestic business. It wouldn't surprise me if the PRC shut down some iOS hacker hopefuls to maintain their contract and keep things civil.
