Have you ever had to use an attaché case?
I'm wondering if this is a thing I only see in movies or if people actually use these, and how that plays out when going places like airports or if you need to use the restroom. Who keeps the key? So many questions make me inclined to believe it's just a movie device for added mystery.
I grew up in the 80s and my dad definitely had several of these. He was a regular c-suite kind of guy. Nothing really secretive, but they didn’t have databases back then, so they had to travel with sensitive documents, and they didn’t want people to open the case if they left it by mistake somewhere.
Obviously it makes little sense today if you’re not a potential NSA target.
They’re pretty cheap on eBay, I’ve thought about getting one, but not sure I want the lawyer vibes.
Can concur with ws404, we used them when transferring classified material around base in the USAF, back in the early 1990s.
We used them in the Army when transferring classified docs around base. They had a handcuff hook on them. I asked a Warrant officer I worked with why we didn’t use the handcuffs. He asked me if I’d seen Mad Max.
I used one once. I can’t talk about it.
