Why do you lie when comparing your product?

I bumped into hashnode and looked at their comparison with WordPress.

And I was shocked: One blatant lie after the other. Before looking at examples, keep in mind that hashnodes is mainly targeting developers, i.e. people who know about hosting and in particular self-hosting WordPress.

On to the lies found at https://hashnode.com/vs/wordpress:

"You need to be a paid user to remove WordPress Advertising" -> Complete lie if you self-host

"SEO Tools: No, only available on a paid business tier." -> Complete lie: There are dozens of FREE WordPress plugins for SEO

"Free In-built Newsletter: No" -> Half lie: Not directly built-in but you can add it for FREE using something like ConvertKit or others.

Now I know they just want to sell their own stuff but my question is how common is this in the industry?

Are there other blatant examples of this that you know of?

That still makes you a paid user. You are just paying for the machine/cloud instead.

I haven't used Hashnode, but it seems like a no hassle managed solution, so to me it is reasonable for them to compare themselves to the no hassle managed solution of Wordpress, not the self hosted, cobbled together version.
