Is Twitter blue check worthless to you now?

> Starting April 1, we’ll be winding down our legacy Verification program and accounts that were verified under the previous criteria (active, notable, and authentic) will not retain a blue checkmark unless they are subscribed to Twitter Blue.

So now it's mostly just a sign for who has subscribed to Twitter? What about an "authentic" account that won't pay?

Is a blue check worthless? It might gate keep your message out of the top promoted messages and for some I'm sure that is an important consideration.

For me, it is an anti pattern that shows your were desperate or stupid enough to pay for one. It's like and NFT but somehow even more worthless.

I would gladly pay the monthly fee to get the features (edit, long tweets…) if I could NOT have blue checkmark. would pay extra $5/month for it

All social media and “content creators” and other BS is worthless to me, blue mark or bot won’t change that.

The entire Twitter is worthless to me. I am all on Mastodon now.

I view it as virtue signaling. None of the really funny accounts, Dril, Everett Byram, that Italian Elon Musk guy, ever had checks anyway.

At this point I view it as mostly a political signal more than anything else.
