How to suppress the >50% of FB feed that is trash?

For a while now, Facebook has been ramping up the amount of third party posts that get into my feed. Not ads. Posts from pages I have absolutely no connection to. These now account for more than 50% of the posts on my feed. (I counted.)

They are very frustrating because they are 1) more catchy to the eye than posts from my friends, 2) at best completely uninteresting, 3) at worst contain innuendos that sexualize my feed but are probably in the gray area of policy violation.

What can I do about it? (Deleting FB is not the solution for me. This is how I keep up with family/friend news.)

Is there a way to get my ad blocker to help? Any other browser extensions you recommend?
