How do I find solid UI/UX designers?


I'm looking for a single, solid UI/UX designer to work with me on my Tech Startup. Design is incredibly subjective, but there's a sleek finesse to a lot of tech sites that really communicate a confidence and professionalism you don't see often otherwise.

I'm talking about sites like Vercel, Stripe, Github (homepage), Gusto, Figma, Plaid, Podium, and so on.

How does one hire for that kind of thing. Does it really just boil down to finding designs you love and trying to poach? And how can one even know the personal contribution of a single designer when it could be diluted with a team?

Do you have a POC or MVP? If not, you're ahead of yourself. When you have users saying, "I wish this product had a look & feel like Stripe, Gusto, etc." then worry about UI / UX.
