Would you work in an AI-driven world where work is optional?

And if so, why and what sort of work would you do?

An AI-driven world will be a dystopia of unemployment and hyper-wealthy tech billionaires. There is no conceivable reality where OpenAI (or whoever) replacing millions of workers would result in those workers retiring early.

If automating jobs out of existence led to more freedom for the people who don't own the automation, we'd see a bunch of coal miners happily enjoying their leisurely lives.

Design and build a 10,000-year memory Starship's AI. The dreamjob's labor of love is work where the time flies too fast and there isn't enough in one lifetime so invent AI to invent immortality. A positive outcome for an AI-driven world may properly align individual's intrinsic interest, worth, direction civilization wants to go. Previous civilizations have built pyramids and gladitorial colosseums. The Cashapp's CEO final minutes outside passing bystander's social sympathy is the everyday lived experience for the homeless AI may find a step improvement to in society policy outcome.
