For background, I'm in my late 40s and working as a full-time IC. I've learned all the difficult lessons about exercise, caffeine, alcohol, screens at night, etc. Overall, my sleep hygiene is pretty solid and consistent. The variable that I'm interested in is the workweek and the incrementally worse sleep I get with each passing day.
When laying awake at 3am, I feel a tension behind my eyes. I wouldn't say my mind races but it doesn't feel peaceful. Is this a stress response? Work is not easy but I'm also not in a toxic situation with crazy people. It is just work. Hours in front of a screen, tough problems and, of course, computers.
Has anyone else observed this? Is this just age? Any non-drug hacks?
