Is OpenAI allowed to copyright names of the form 'X-GPT'?

You cannot copyright a name. You can trademark a name. As GPT has not been trademarked by OpenAI yet, and other models and products are already using it, then I would say the name is now open for use by anyone. If OpenAI does manage to get a trademark, then that would change things.
