Are there any good guides on how to start a startup?

I was laid off from big tech, after a few rounds of interview rejections, I am convinced my energy is better focussed on building something of my own.

Are there any good guides on how to go about this process? I am specifically looking for logistical issues like registering a company or creating a bank account etc. to begin with. But then also tips from other founders on how to handle pre seed or seed stage of the company.

Bonus: If anyone has successfully done this being a non citizen, any tips/guides related to immigration would be very helpful.

Have you looked at https://www.startupschool.org/? Probably doesn't have a lot of the financial details like registering a company, but it talks about the lifestyle, risk, what to focus on, etc.

A great deal of advice here is going to push you in the direction of VC funded startups and the Lean Startup style approach.

You might want to go that way, but as you said "build", not "sell", you may value the approach of bootstrapping and taking a strategic view (e.g. following your convictions).

I recently started a company, and ChatGPT has been surprisingly helpful if you go and verify its recommendations.

But you don't need to create a bank account or register a company! You're already a business (sole proprietorship). Go build things :)

Sell something first. Don’t register a business or get a separate bank account before demonstrating sales. I say that from experience. Nothing feels worse than paying taxes and fees for losing money :)
