What should I do? Stay or move?

Hello everyone.

I am currently working as a senior cybersecurity consultant and have a primary career goal of starting my own company, specifically in the SaaS industry. I have market certification and three years of real-world experience. I am open to pursuing additional certifications, such as CISSP and maybe OSEP. My short-term and long-term financial goals include becoming financially independent, and I currently earn around 4k per month(no taxes).

I am facing a decision in my career, and there are a few factors that I need to consider, such as financial independence, location independence, the desire to travel to more countries, and the ambition to build multiple online businesses. My current job is an 8-4 position, allowing me to focus on my side hustle in my free time. However, If I move to a Western country(because I’m giving some interviews(my salary is between 125-135aud before taxes)), I might have to work more than my current 8-4 schedule.

In addition, Chances are they will offer me a sponsorship, which could lead to permanent residency. However, this might result in working longer hours, leaving me with less time to build, learn, and ship new products. On the other hand, the pay in the Gulf is quite good. Also, I’m planning to get married maybe this year or maybe next year. (InshaAllah)

Considering all these factors, I am unsure about what to do and need help making a decision. Because If I’m not moving, then I can go and talk to my current company about 2 years of bond.

Thanks, Shazeb

When answering these kinds of decisions, I always draw up a pros/cons list for each option. I make it as exhaustive as possible. Then I put it away and listen to my gut.

I'd also ask your future spouse for their advice if possible; they might have good perspective.

This is completely irrelevant but people often refer to you when they message/email me!

If you’re getting married, probably better to stay where you can prioritize life outside of career, no?
