Why is clickbait like kryptonite on HN?
Why is clickbait like kryptonite on HN?
I guess I'm seeing the opposite:
I hate clickbait titles but after railing a bit I've come to the conclusion that HN moderation policies and guidelines encourages and likes them that way. I guess it boosts engagement.
There are also interrogatives which aren't rhetoric/hyperbolic but make people click because they want to know the answer to a question. This very Ask HN is an interrogative.
What causes the almost visceral hostility among so many of us towards misleading, exaggerated and overblown rhetoric?
