Do you keep changing the text editor you use just for the novelty?


So even if the new is not better in any significant way and is actually worse in some important ways, at least it's different enough to be interesting for a while?

Nope, I basically never change technology until something else becomes "The new big thing" that's so revolutionary everyone switches.

The exception is when something is fairly obviously being pushed as "The Future of X" I'll sometimes switch early.

But I don't have a regular rotation of tools I use, nor do I even like the "Match the right tool to the right job" or "Just enough" mindset. I put 24GB of RAM and an SSD in my laptop for a reason, VS Code is the only editor I need at the moment aside from trivial config files over SSH with Nano.
