Twitter will go private, what is the motive?

On one hand we have the press that suggests that TikTok should do an IPO to avoid a ban..

But on the other hand we have Elon Musk who wishes to take private both Tesla and Twitter.

What are the benefits of having a public/private company when it comes to social media? Or a tech company in general.. ELI5

Twitter is already a private company post the Musk buyout. The benefit is that you can avoid releasing public quarterly and yearly reports detailing your business and also avoid Wall Street expectations.

LY5: Twitter is not publicly traded anymore. In Twitters case, the benefits appear to be dubious, but that might not be causally connected to whether you can buy and sell shares in a secondary market. Tesla is too expensive to take private. After it is valued like a car company and not a "by next year" robotaxi company, it might be plausible.
