How to convey the importance of generative AI to non-technical people?


I noticed a trend recently when comparing LLMs with the previous tech trends (crypto/web3/NFTs, big data, etc.):

* many laypeople think the latter are a big deal, while experts do not (or are split),

* many experts think LLMs are a big deal, while most laypeople do not see the point yet.

For people working in ML, how do you convey the (probable) future importance of LLMs, and generative AI in general, to non-techies?

Excitement from laypeople without fundamentals has arguably not been helpful for the other examples you mention.

I wouldn't preach.
