Best PC brand for non-technical family members?

Greetings.

I'm doing the good old "tech support for the family", and coming up against a lack of knowledge in a specific area: I'm a Mac guy mostly, and while most of my family is too, one family member needs a Windows machine for a particular task (low-to-mid-range specs should be fine). I have, over the years, gotten impressions about what brands are best for what tasks in the Windows world, but as things have shifted in recent times, I no longer have much opportunity to put my finger on that pulse.

So, I'm hoping the people here have some insight: which brands of off-the-shelf Windows hardware are going to be best for a purpose like this? Reliable, reasonably priced desktop hardware without too much in the way of fancy proprietary weirdness, that will hopefully last several years without a need for heavy maintenance.

Thanks for your input in advance.

Brand isnt as important as the target market. Look at "workstation" PCs lines like Dell Precision, HP's Z series, or Lenovo's Thinkstations. These are built to last, while most consumer and "business" desktops are hunks of junk.

Many are marked up, but many are also deeply discounted due to excess inventory.

If you need a laptop, get a discounted Asus Zephyrus from Best Buy. Thats... pretty much all I trust, and its the closest thing to a "Windows Mac" I know of.
