How to preserve digital identity and assets for eternity?

I came across interesting question on reddit [1] that got me thinking.

Is there a service that you can pay upfront to keep your domain/mail/documents/whatever kept alive forever? Something like cryogenics but for data.

I don't think there is a service for that, and of course the Laws will be very different from country to country and each provider (domain/mail/hosting) will have their rules/procedures and what not.

In some states of the US there are Laws connected to UFADAA or RUFADAA, see (only as an example):

From what I understand, the "best" (and probably the only sensible/effective way) is to transfer your "digital assets" to some form of trust, not really easy or affordable by many.

Money is only valuable as a tool long as you also have the strenght to make sure your vendor/supplier is not ripping you off.

So no. Once you stop fighting and constantly pressing your vendor/supplier they'd simply take your money and not provide you any service.

This will happen way before you croak btw. By the time you are 70 people will be ripping you off left and right.
