How to be productive in both Win – Mac with different key shortcuts?
I think after some time, you can become productive even with very bad keyboard after you muscle learn every movement.
But what if you have to constantly switch between different keyboard layouts like Windows/Linux and Mac?
Windows and Linux are great as core shortcuts are basically same.
With Mac it is different and even if you mimic Windows CTRL + C, there are still other combinations which just doesn't make this easy.
I have one keyboard that I switch between linux and mac, with most of my work in vim and bash in linux and in jupyter notebooks and MS Word or PowerPoint on the mac. Muscle memory gets really confused and I semi regularly type :wq! into a notebook I'm working on. Sorry I don't have a solution, other than to say that after doing it enough I don't think theres a productivity issue
I feel your pain, it also is annoying that the Mac laptop keyboard is nonstandard/has that Fn key to further mess up muscle memory. Luckily I tend to adapt to whatever I’m using before too long, but my docking station and full keyboard is my “default”
Remap cmd to the normal ctrl key position, then get annoyed when some fn combo keys no longer work on your macbook.
One simply gets used to mentally switching between the two after a couple of years.
