Recommend philosophy around consciousness and AI

With 2022 being a huge year for AI via ChatGPT and various diffusion models producing astounding results, I’d like to read thoughtful takes on whether these things are alive in a classical or contrived sense.

Could be philosophers from a world before this technology was a twinkle in the world’s eye up to modern day blogs from folks immersed in this culture. Anything from academic, to fiction, to amateur would be much appreciated.

By far my favourite book on consciousness is "The View From Nowhere" by Thomas Nagel. It doesn't mention AI but you can make the connections yourself.

David Chalmers has a recent book and a bunch of papers on AI and consciousness. I haven't read the book or much of his other recent stuff, but he is super smart, and also (!) well respected by other philosophers. See https://consc.net/
