Is ChatGPT a disruptive technology or a sustaining technology?

ChatGPT is here, and everyone's talking about, and - more importantly - some individuals are using it and not talking about it.Is ChatGPT per se disruptive or a sustaining technology that will enable some entrepreneurs to disrupt existing businesses and business models?Will OpenAI develop their own lines of businesses and compete with its own users?What does HN think?

I am observing many startups / side projects being built that are effectively a pretty web/app UI wrapped around OpenAI's GPT3 API, for a specific domain. It feels like we are experiencing a gold rush in this area right now.

ChatGPT is just one model, by one company. I suspect there will be better alternatives to OpenAIs offering pretty soon.More generally, ML has been and will continue to automate and disrupt. Like other model types applied to niches, getting them to work well takes time and is a grind.

ChatGPT is just one model, by one company. I suspect there will be better alternatives to OpenAIs offering pretty soon.
More generally, ML has been and will continue to automate and disrupt. Like other model types applied to niches, getting them to work well takes time and is a grind.
