Early Stage Founders – Do you attend networking events/dinners?

Does anyone attend these networking events or dinners they get invited to related to market they're targeting? We're pre-rev and working tireless on getting our v.2 product launched, we had one of our colleagues in the VC world introduce us to another VC in our related field who invited us to a dinner event where "apparently" it will have attendee's who are leaders in our target market & investors.

Should we sacrifice our building time to attend this or stick to building to prep for our launch?
