What Hurts?
What are you struggling with, at work or in life?
Being typecast as the "front-end web guy." I thought for a long time not having a degree held me back, so I got my BSCS. Nope, still pegged as the FE web guy. Working on my masters now, talk to some folks around the company about getting involved in some back-end data driving projects. Shot down because I'm "just an FE web guy." I'm so sick of CSS, HTML, and the never ending churn of Javascript frameworks that I sometimes feel like I'm losing my mind. It's worse when I see new grads come in with 0 programming experience get on an interesting team... all because they don't have the "FE web guy" stink on them.
I don't know how ambitious goals to set for myself. Should I aim for harder and harder work environments and roles until I fail and get burnt out, or stay put at the safe comfort zone.
