Is anyone using UML in their work?

I'm very curious to know about the real-life applicability of UML.All examples I have seen so far are the shape-rectangle-circle kind of examples. Besides, I have been browsing around open source projects a lot recently and none of them had a design document or similar.

Sequence diagrams, in particular, yes.I do these with PlantUML in Gitlab Issues (which has in-built support for PlantUML)
