What are the signs of bad management?
Many companies have a difficult time coming up with a 6 month roadmap, and often if they do it’s so porous that new priorities will constantly change that roadmap so the things you wanted to get done simply don’t.
Visionary companies have an outlook well into the future because they not only understand what their customer needs are today and how they can make money by providing that value, but also know how they can leapfrog competition by innovating in the long term in their respective industries. Apple is a great example of a company that has done this.
Management styles, leadership etc come and go, they can be trained, but often a company that lacks focus and “here’s where we’re going to be in x years” is going to feel pains show up in the organization in different ways (people leaving, leadership changes, demoralizing culture, lack of talent, lack of care and passion from employees, etc)
Seems insane, but surprisingly common.
