HACKER Q&A

What tools do you use on your blog in 2023?

Everything in your stack, i.e. Jekyll to build, DigitalOcean for servers, Mailchimp for email collection, Upwork for editors, Google Ads or Substack or Patreon to monetize, etc.

I'd like to build up my blog and eventually monetize it. I tried Mailchimp to collect emails (but I didn't post a ton and nobody signed up). Now I just have my RSS generated by Hugo, basically I'm "not paying attention to readers" but of course I'd like to grow the numbers. I know a lot of it is that I need to write more content, but I'm wondering if I'm missing some key tools that might help me too, like Medium publishing?

Interested in HN experiences and suggestions for the 2023 blogging era :)

Not much, I actually don't have a separated "blog", but I integrate a blog system in my existing website(s).

Most of them are basic HTML/PHP websites, so I created this to publish blog posts on them, I still have to improve the SEO for it: https://github.com/Cristy94/markdown-blog

Jekyll to build and Github pages for hosting. Trying out Google Analytics but I'm not planning on monetizing content.
