Who Games on Mac OS?

I bought a 2019 16' MacBook Pro i7 with a Radeon 5300 graphics card to run Windows and game. I've been impressed so far - running the Witcher 3 next-gen update without a hitch. Yeah, sure, it's loud as hell, but I've ordered a fan from Svalt which will hopefully keep that down and improve performance even more.

Does anyone recommend any games in particular? Any games that don't work well? Looking to try Elden Ring soon.

I also have an M1 Pro that my work gave me with 32GB of RAM, and I've run Parallels on it and am able to run old games at 120fps (playing Vampire the Masquerade from 08, for example) but the first Witcher game from 08 is terribly buggy and glitchy.

Leave you favorite games and Steam IDs if you want.

I used to, it ran pretty great until Proton stopped working. If you want a consistent/smooth gaming experience, MacOS is no longer the place to get it - I'd recommend dual-booting Linux on the Radeon machine and using Proton that way. You'd get a lot more games to choose from and more dependable performance.

Trying to fanangle with VMs and Crossover is a waste of your time when Proton exists, unfortunately.

If you like RPGs, Baldur's Gate III and Divinity: Original Sin 2 are fantastic and they are playable on macOS AFAIK.

Edit: I should also mention, there are a ton of older cRPGs like Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights that are ALSO playable on macOS and great.

Blizzard has been very supportive of Mac OS with their pre-activision line of games. Diablo and World of Warcraft are beautiful and responsive on OSX
