What would HN on Mastodon be like?

It wouldn't be HN.

HN has an algorithm that fosters discussion of popular articles. Its discussions are threaded so you have context of replies.

With mastodon, it would be like having the new and comments feeds mashed together with no way to get threaded context.

A better fediverse comparison would be lemmy.
