What are the chances of a foreign student converting OPT to H1B?


My friend is an English major and getting her teaching doctorate. In a top 50 school, What are the odds of converting an TA position into a full time associate professor position?

She really should apply for other jobs.

Academia is notoriously difficult to find work in. Particularly full time .

This is a question for an immigration attorney.

I am not one, but my first advice is to stop broadcasting an intent "to remain in the US" because I have heard that using a visa that does not allow remaining when the intent is to remain is grounds for deportation and entry denial...but again, I am not an attorney.
