How to do a demo video that mixes terminal and web pages?


I'm releasing an open source static site generator (there just aren't enough of those ;). I want a short video on the home page that shows how to create a site with the CLI and then view it.

I keep thinking the answer is asciinema but of course that doesn't show the rendered output.

I'm thinking the best way is just to do it like a savage and screen record two things at once: the terminal on the left, and the browser on the right?

All of this makes me realize I need a playground feature on the website but that's going to be version 2.0....

Yeah just record the whole screen and zoom in on the relevant section in your video editor. If you’re not looking for anything fancy in terms of transitions, that’ll be a rather straightforward edit.

If you’re on a 1080p monitor, just due to the resolution you’d be zooming into, it may end up being easier to just switch between full screen windows and cut the transitions
