Is Touch ID on the Mac worse than on the iPhone?

I've had a Touch ID-enabled MBA for several months. The computer is great, but the Touch ID is surprisingly bad. I have to reset my fingerprints every few weeks, which is something I never experienced with my many iPhones. I might have reset those occasionally, but less than annually.

Am I the only one with this issue? Or are the Touch ID sensors in the Mac just not as good as the ones in the iPhones?

I feel like for me personally touch ID has been pretty successful on both platforms, with minor blips here and there on each. I never had to reset it on either. It would be interesting to see a breakdown comparison of the two and which technologies each use.

That being said, I've been on Face ID for a while with the iPhone now, can't wait until that comes to the macbook

My work laptop has Touch ID. I’ve not had any trouble with it — had it for two and a half years, not come anywhere near needing to reset my prints. Seems just as reliable as Touch ID on my phone.

Maybe it’s just the fingerprint sensor on your laptop is duff?
