I know that wind turbines tend to shut down to protect themselves, so probably not great.

Out of curiosity, I asked ChatGPT, and interestingly it added the following: "Fossil fuel-based power plants, such as coal and natural gas, can also experience disruptions due to extreme weather."

Now I wonder if this is true. Some web research brought up turbine failures at low temperatures. I'm sure that happens, but anyone knows if this is bad enough to be a relevant problem?

Cold isn't a problem if you don't cheap out like texas did before 2020. High winds require shutting them down, but most of the US seems to be operating at above average capacity.
