Why hasn't Substack or Medium pivoted to becoming Twitter 2.0?

Both of those businesses have better business models already.

For an author like Bari Weiss, the Substack model is so profitable that she started her own Substack clone. Medium users already pay for a $5 a month subscription.

Why would anyone want to be Twitter? Everyone hates the company and it's never been reliably profitable.
