He'll need every bit of time he can get. Time for the news cycle to churn some more and bore people like you and me, time to communicate with friends who may help, time to try contingency plans, time for the market to turn up even a little bit (which also presumably helps his friends, who may help him), and so on.
He took a lot of risk and his best outcome was leveraged over time in a gradual buildup. He'll probably do the same now with any other solution + any helpful asset he may have, be it time, financial, human, etc.
